   Carp, Bighead. (Aristichthys nobilis). Max weight 40.82 kg/ 90 lb 8oz. Omnivorous. The Bighead carp has Chinese origins and is widespread throughout Asia reaching as far a field as Europe and the USA. This highly distinctive member of the Cyprinidae (carps) family of fishes is easily distinguishable by its extremely large head and streamlined body covered with minute scales. The fish displays a marbled almost mottled brown to grey colouration throughout its body and possesses a large cavernous mouth. The Bighead carp feeds predominantly on zoo plankton, detrius and other vegetable/ plant matter. The Bighead carp is present in various commercial fisheries throughout Thailand.
