The Common Carp is a member of the Cyprinidae family of fish’s and has a global distribution. The Common Carp is found throughout Europe the Americas and Asian subcontinent. The Common Carp ranges in form from sleek ‘Wild’ torpedo shaped specimens to deep broad bodied specimens displaying a gold to bronze colouration. The Common Carp is covered entirely in golden scales on its flanks with a pale colouration on its underside.
The Common Carp is found in various fisheries in Thailand, but has not attained weights like its European counterpart with fish caught in Thailand at recorded weights of 10kg’s.
