Fishing at Now Nam Lake in Bangkok for Carp and Catfish - 30 09 2009

Jason and Paul UK anglers from Dudley in the Midlands visited Now Nam Lake near Bangkok to fish for the various carp and catfish species found in its depths.
Fishing with method feeders loaded with locally produced groundbait the anglers fished over beds of bait in the nearby margins.

After several hook pulls in the first hours angling Jason finally bent the rod into a fish which saw a large bow wave move out of the swim towards the centre of the lake.
Clamping down hard onto the spool the fish was soon turned back towards the anglers where it was played for a further ten minutes.

Finally the fish was brought to the waiting net where it was netted on the first attempt before being hoisted onto the unhooking mat.
The Mekong Catfish was estimated to weigh 20kg’s and was released after a few quick trophy shots.

Ten minutes later another rod fished over the baited hot spot ripped off seeing Martin clamping down on the reel.
The fight on this occasion was played out at close quarters with the fish charging up and down the margins.
After a short five minute battle a good sized Big Head Carp was hoisted onto the unhooking mat with an estimated weight of 8kg’s.

The anglers fished throughout the afternoon catching several other Big Head Carp in addition to more Striped and Mekong Catfish.
The day could also be described as some what frustrating with the anglers receiving literally dozens of hook pulls and aborted takes throughout the later part of the day.
