The Giant Gourami is an extremely beautiful and ornamental fish found throughout South East Asia and is found in Malaysia, Indonesia, Indo-china and Thailand. The Giant Gourami is a curious fish that builds underwater nests in which to lay eggs. The Giant Gourami is easily identifiable with a pronounced forehead and pair of long barbels protruding from its chin. The Giant Gourami is pale to golden yellow with silvery blue stripes running vertically along its body. This omnivorous fish feeds on zoo plankton and various other aquatic plantlife to be found in the lakes and rivers of South East Asia.
