Rohu. (Labeo rohita). Max weight 12.5 kg/ 27 lb 8oz. Herbivorous.
The Rohu is a member of the Cypriniformes (carps) family of fishes and is widely distributed throughout Asia in Pakistan, Nepal, Myanmar and Bangladesh in addition to Thailand.
The Rohu feeds on various plant and vegetable debris in the freshwater rivers and lakes that it inhabits. The Rohu has a golden to bronze scaling very similar to that of a Common Carp and has reddish to orange coloured fins. The Rohu is present in various natural reservoirs/ dams throughout Thailand in addition to various commercial fisheries.
