Phuket

Phuket is the largest island in Thailand, located in the Andaman Sea in southern Thailand. The island is a mountainous region with a mountain range in the west of the island stretching between the north and the south of the island. The mountains of Phuket form the southern end of the Phuket mountain range, which stretches for 440 km from the Kra Isthmus.

The highest peak of the island is Mai Thao Sip Song (Twelve Canes), at 529 m above sea level. It is estimated that Phuket has a total area of approximately 570 square kilometers.

The islands most popular tourist areas is Patong Beach on the central western coast which has been highly developed and offers tourists cheap shopping opportunites.Other beaches in Phuket of note include Kamala, Karon and Kata which offer various hotels to accomodate all travellers budgets.

Phuket offers various attractions and facilities for tourists to relax including watersports,a wide selection of restaurants and entertainment venues and is a perfect location for scuba divng and salt water fishing.

Phuket Islands raining season falls between the months of May-September with November-March being the best time to visit this tropical and idyllic paradise.
