Bungsamran Catfish fishing trip – 31 10 2013

Norwegian adventurer Tay-Young started his Thailand fishing holiday with a visit to Bungsamran Lake in Bangkok fishing for Mekong Catfish.

On arrival the angler cast out a large feeder packed with groundbait towards the many fish topping in the centre of the lake.
After only ten minutes the angler was already bent into a fish which powered off across the lake.

Ten minutes later Tay was posing with his first Mekong Catfish.

The next cast did not even see the float pop up before the rod was away again with yet another catfish.
The Mekong Catfish on this occasion was a 20kg specimen which fought well before being netted by the guide.

The days fishing at Bungsamran Lake passed in much the same way with Tay Young landing a succession of smallish Mekong Catfish ranging between 10-20kg.

After a short break for refreshments the angler began fishing again and was soon rewarded by a much better fish of around 35kgs.
The fish on this occasion took fifteen minutes to land putting up a great fight even on heavy tackle.

As the afternoons fishing continued the angler added several more Mekong Catfish to his increasing tally of fish.
At the end of the days angling Tay Young had amassed a twenty fish haul topped by a Mekong Catfish of possibly 35kgs.
