Giant freshwater stingray fishing at Maeklong River in Thailand – 29 05 2008
The Fishsiam team joined by emerging National geographic explorer Dr.Zeb Hogan in addition to members of the Associated Press media group for a day stingray fishing in Thailand.
After a fruitless day spent on the Ban Pakong River it was decided to visit the Area 51 section of the Maeklong River near Samut Songkran.
On arrival at the great tidal river the team quickly landed a small Giant freshwater stingray estimated to weigh 20kg.
The small male stingray was examined by Dr.Zeb Hogan before being released back to the tidal river.
Some two hours later a larger Giant freshwater stingray was hooked and landed after a twenty minute battle.
The stingray was estimated to weigh 60kg and was observed to be a male.
The prehistoric predator was released after a short examination by Dr.Hogan back into the Maeklong River
