Lure fishing Barramundi ponds Bangkok Thailand – 20 01 2009
Thomas Ritzinger a returning client from Austria went fishing at the Barramundi ponds in Ban Pakong.
Armed with a selection of lures Thomas fished at a variety of the ponds on the complex.
Fishing with various top water poppers Thomas steadily caught Barramundi which proceeded to launch themselves skywards.
Slowly teasing poppers across the surface saw Thomas rewarded by a series of explosive strikes.
Thomas caught several fish in the 3kg range on his first few casts setting a precedent for the rest of the days angling.
Making subtle changes in his lure fishing presentations enabled the angler to keep in contact with the fish and saw the angler losing numerous Barramundi due to the hooks not taking hold in the fish’s bony mouths.
Using a roving approach Thomas moved from pond to pond in an effort to keep on the fish.
This approach was rewarded by several good sized Barramundi with weights upto 6.5kg’s.
Poppers scored well throughout the day with subtle changes in pattern continually fooling the fish.
After fishing a short six hour session the angler had amassed a twenty fish capture with Barramundi ranging between 3-6.5kg’s.
