Mekong Catfish fishing Bungsamran – 10 02 2011

Returning client Jamie from the UK once again visited Bungsamran Lake in Bangkok Mekong Catfish fishing for the many monsters in its depths.
On arrival at the lake Jamie decided to fish from the public area and was soon casting out large baited feeders on sliding float set ups.
With large numbers of Mekong Catfish regularly crashing out in the lake the angler did not have long to wait before a run developed.
Winding down into the first fish of the day saw the rod arched over into full battle curve as a lively Mekong Catfish powered off across the lake.
A scrappy five minute battle ensued which saw the Mekong Catfish fighting all the way to the net.
The Mekong Catfish was estimated to weigh 20 kg’s and was photographed before being released.
Further casts towards the centre of the lake produced more action with Mekong Catfish continually tearing off with the baits.
Throughout the days fishing at Bungsamran Lake in Bangkok Jamie continued to catch Mekong Catfish and Striped Catfish at regular intervals.
As the afternoon progressed Jamie started to pick up a better stamp of fish with several Mekong Catfish being landed to 30 kg’s.
At the end of the days highly prolific fishing session the UK angler had succeeded in catching a twenty fish haul consisting of various hard fighting Mekong Catfish to 30 kg’s with Striped Catfish to an estimated 11kg’s.
