English anglers Colin and Ray returned for yet another days carp fishing at Bungsamran Lake in Bangkok
Fishing on the public area of the lake which had been heavily prebaited the anglers offered buoyant Owner hooks popped up 3 inches above large Fox Method feeders loaded with local groundbait.
Regular recasting saw the anglers rewarded with a succession of Striped Catfish weighing upto 7.5kg’s.
With the lake relatively quiet and weather conditions perfectly suited to catching big carp and catfish the anglers waited patiently for the larger fish.
An extremely fast take on Ray’s rod saw the angler applying pressure in an attempt to slow the fish’s powerful run.
After turning the fish on its initial run, the fish headed directly towards the snags requiring Ray to apply maximum side strain to remove the fish from the snags!
With a large carp now wallowing on the surface just out of netting range the anglers tried to ease it towards the waiting net. Seconds later the hook pinged out!
After resting for a few moments the rods were once again recast into the baited area.
Almost one hour later one of Colin’s rods rattled off as a large Mekong Catfish picked up his baited hook.
A grueling thirty minute battle followed which saw the large Mekong Catfish making a series of powerful runs.
After finally netting the fish the large Mekong Catfish was estimated to weigh 46kg’s.
The afternoon produced a few more Striped Catfish with relatively small weights before the swim once again slowed down.
An extremely fast take on Colin’s rod suddenly saw him attached to another Giant Siamese Carp which headed immediately towards the snags.
A twenty minute battle ensued which saw the fish making repeated attempts to enter the underwater snags.
After a few fraught moments during netting the fish was finally hoisted onto the unhooking mat.
The large Giant Siamese Carp was estimated to weigh 35 kg’s.
In the next few hours the anglers experienced some fantastic sport with both anglers landing several more Mekong Catfish topped by a whopping 55kg specimen caught by Colin.
