The Julliens Golden Price Carp is a member of the Cyprinidae family of fishes and is found only in certain regions of Asia including the Mekong, Chao Phraya and Maeklong basins of Indochina and Thailand, and the Pahang and Perak basins of Malaysia.
This sleek elongated carp species displays five distinctive lateral stripes on its lateral surface between its lateral line scale row and its dorsal fin base.
Adult Julliens Golden Price Carp display red and sometimes yellowish colouration on the head, body and fins with juvenile specimens uniformly pale white in colouration.
The Jullien’s Golden Price Carp is adorned with a beautiful golden scaling further enhancing the stunning and most striking appearance of what is certainly Thailand’s most beautiful carp.
The Jullien’s Golden Price Carp inhabits mainly the mainstream of large rivers with sand or gravel substrates feeding on abundant mollusks populations which inhabit the rocky riverbed.
The Jullien’s Golden Price Carp is a Cypriniform that generally occurs in the deeper and slower reaches of such rivers also feeding on aquatic plants, insects and assorted shelled mollusks.
The Jullien’s Golden Price Carp spawns in winter (late December-early February) in big riverine deltas over sand and gravel substrate and undertakes annual spawning and trophic migrations in the Mekong basin.
This Thai Carp species is one of Thailand’s rarest and most beautiful of Asian Carp species which is highly sought after by carp fishing enthusiasts and specimen hunters fishing in Thailand.
Although the Julian’s Golden Price Carp is no longer a common sight when fishing in the wild, the Julian’s Golden Price Carp has been stocked into various fishing lakes and ponds throughout Thailand allowing anglers to fish for this most beautiful and rarely encountered monster carp species.
The Julian’s Golden Price Carp is sometimes caught whilst carp fishing Thailand for other monster carp species and is a most welcome capture for anglers fortunate enough to encounter this most beautiful and rarely seen of Thailand’s monster carp species.
